Introduction to EKS Anywhere
Amazon EKS Anywhere extends EKS's capabilities to customer-managed infrastructure, providing consistent Kubernetes management.
EKS Anywhere is designed to manage Kubernetes clusters on-premise. It utilizes the same methods and operational principles that are used for Amazon EKS in the cloud. This service aims to standardize the management of container-based applications across various environments, including those outside of AWS.
EKS Anywhere is part of a broader suite of container orchestration services offered by AWS, which includes Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) for managed Kubernetes in the cloud (with options like Managed Nodes, Self-Managed Nodes, and Fargate) and Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) for container orchestration with EC2 or Fargate. EKS Anywhere extends this management to external, customer-owned infrastructure, standardizing operations.
